Adolescent and Family Growth Center, Inc. (AFGC) is a therapeutic foster care program designed to integrate the structure and services of a residential treatment facility, with a less restricted community-based setting.

Our Mission

Adolescent and Family Growth Center, Inc. provides treatment within a safe environment which models healthy, trusting relationships and allows adolescents to experience hope and growth in the context of a family setting. Our goal is to foster the development of the emotional and practical resources necessary for adolescents to become effective adults.

Philosophy

AFGC is founded on the philosophy that every client has the right to grow up in a warm, nurturing family environment. Because some children's families cannot provide for basic physical and emotional needs of the child, AFGC recruits treatment foster parents who can provide the stability, structure, and emotional support children need to grow toward adulthood. AFGC is committed to providing the training, support, education, and services to enhance the foster care experience for foster families providing care, the clients receiving this care, and each client's biological family, with the ultimate goal (when possible) to return the client to live with their biological family.

AFGC is a private, for-profit organization, which was founded in 1996. AFGC is a licensed provider of Treatment Foster Care Services to children age 11 to 18. Transitional services are provided to 16 to 21 year olds who are entering into independent living. AFGC recruits, trains and supports foster parents as part of its mission.

Structure

The Executive Director manages AFGC. The Management Team of the agency consists of the Business Manager, Director of Admissions, Clinical Director, Director of Foster Care, and Director of Programs and Training. The Management Team develops and implements new programs, approves all referrals and admissions, approves foster home certifications and addresses and mediates staff, foster family and biological family issues.

Teams

Each child at AFGC is served by an Interdepartmental Team, which directs the treatment, and care of the child. Each team consists of the foster family, an AFGC Therapist/Case Manager and Counselor from the TLP Program. Other members of the team include the child's county Social Worker/Case Manager, biological family, and other consulting professionals involved in the child's life.
